Prof. Xiangsun Zhang Elected as Vice-President of IFORS

Professor Xiangsun Zhang from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science(AMSS) was elected as vice-president of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS). The tenure keeps for three years from 2010 to 2012.

The International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS), founded in 1957, is an umbrella organization comprising the national Operations Research societies of over forty five countries from four geographical regions: Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and South America.

As the Honorary President now, Prof. Xiangsun Zhang also served as the fifth and sixth President of the Operations Research Society of China. Furthermore, Prof. Guanghui Xu from Institute of Applied Mathematics, AMSS, once served as the vice president of IFORS from 1992 to 1994.
