PDE constitutes a very important part of applied mathematics and finds a wide range of applications in natural science as well as engineering. Under the revised strategic planning of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in early 1980s, the Institute of Applied Mathematics was established and the research division for PDE and computational physics became a part of the institute. In 1992, the research strength of the division was further reinforced with the arrival of Academician, Prof. Xiaqi Ding, At present, the research of the division covers PDE and its numerical methods, mathematical physics and dynamical system. We have a total of 17 members involving in full time research. Among them there are 9 research fellows (one academician and two fellows from the "Hundred Talents Program"), 4 associate research fellows and one research assistants.
